Laboratory Support Services

Photo of a GEM 4000 machineOur Laboratory Support Services meet or exceed all standards set by Federal regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA and Joint Commission). Comprehensive Care Services staff are experts in the maintenance of all aspects of laboratory equipment and services, including:
  • Ordering of disposable inventory
  • Performance of federally required proficiency testing
  • Quality controls
  • Preventative maintenance and upkeep of equipment
Point of Care is a self-contained unit within our Laboratory Support Services specialties. We offer the following Point of Care techniques:
  • Stat arterial blood gas monitoring
  • Anticoagulation status and testing
  • Heparin management monitoring
  • Thromboelastograph hemostasis monitoring
    • The thromboelastograph (TEG) is a revolutionary monitoring device designed to produce a hemostasis profile of the patient. Our staff offer expert implementation of this cutting-edge technology, and are able to derive this data to determine clotting factor, platelet and AT-III deficiencies and the reversal of Protamine.
  • Platelet Mapping
    • An expansion of the TEG's capabilities, monitors anti-platelet therapy and measures the effect of platelet inhibiting drugs such as Plavix, Reopro, Integrilin and Aggrastat.
These services are vital to comprehensive patient care and important to our "Blood Management" focus. Implementation of these strategies can reduce the well-documented risks associated with the use of banked blood, and significantly decrease costs for the facility.
